Democrats call on Walker to lift Family Care cap
Wednesday, 08 February 2012 14:37

The four Democrats in Wisconsin's congressional delegation have sent a letter urging Republican Gov. Scott Walker to lift the enrollment cap on the state's Family Care program that helps keep the elderly and disabled out of nursing homes.

The letter sent Tuesday was signed by U.S. Sen. Herb Kohl and U.S. Reps. Tammy Baldwin, Ron Kind and Gwen Moore.

Walker placed a cap on the program last year to save money, then announced in December he was lifting it in response from an order by the federal government to take that action. But reversing that decision requires action by the Legislature.

A bill has been introduced but it has not been voted on by the Senate or Assembly.

Walker's spokesman had no immediate comment on the letter.
